Volunteer opportunities include tutoring math or science virtually or in-person, teaching coding, or even running engineering challenges!
At Build Your World, volunteers will get to work with kids from different communities and teach them different aspects of STEM.
*Please note that volunteer waitlists depend on how many volunteers our partners need at any given time
TUTORING
What will you do?
As a volunteer, you will help students with their homework, schoolwork, and possibly teach them new things. The Build Your World subjects to tutor are math and science at elementary and middle school levels. Depending on what grade you are in, we will partner you with a kid that will have work you will be sure to understand.
Time commitment: 45 minutes - 1 hour every week
What do you have to know?
Tutors must be in grades 8th - 12th or a rising 8th grader if you are tutoring over the summer. You must be comfortable with math and/or science at the middle school level.
Once you are signed up to volunteer and a student becomes available, you will be emailed the name and grade of your student and what subject and level you will help them succeed in.
What will you do?
As a volunteer, you will follow Build Your World's curriculum of project code with talking points. You will be responsible for going over all the points and explaining the code.
